“The Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship provides selected students with: $9,500 academic stipend per year for junior and senior year, A 10-week paid NOAA internship during the summer, Funding for travel, conferences, and presenting internship research, & Access to NOAA mentors, professional development, and career pathways. In April 2025, NOAA selected 130 Hollings Scholars from 85 campuses across 33 states, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, and D.C. Many alumni continue into NOAA careers or other federal, academic, or private-sector positions.
Requirements:
– U.S. citizen
– Minimum 3.0 GPA
– Full-time undergraduate student
– Eligible standing: Sophomore in a 4-year program, Community college student planning to transfer to a 4-year program, & Third year in a 5-year program
– Majoring in NOAA-relevant fields such as: Biological sciences, Physical sciences, Social sciences, Engineering, Meteorology, & Marine, coastal, or environmental sciences
