“Villanova University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a 12-month Mendel Science Experience Post-Doctoral Fellow. The fellowship is designed to enhance undergraduate science education for non-science majors and support professional development of recent Ph.D. graduates pursuing academic careers. The fellow will hold a 50:50 teaching–research appointment and will work closely with Dr. Steven Goldsmith on watershed biogeochemistry research, including topics such as road salts, microplastics, litter, and Marcellus Shale natural gas extraction. Additional responsibilities include co-teaching courses in climate change (Fall 2026), watershed biogeochemistry (Spring 2027), and developing a new Mendel Science Experience course on watershed science and sustainability (designed in 2026, taught in Fall 2027). Fellows will also mentor undergraduate researchers and participate fully as departmental faculty members. The position begins August 2026 and is renewable for up to three years.
Requirements:
– Ph.D. completed before August 2026
– Background in biology, geology, environmental science, or related fields
– Research interests in watershed biogeochemistry, limnology, ecohydrology, or hydrology
– Experience with statistical and/or GIS analysis (preferred)
– Strong interest in teaching science to non-science majors
