Fabi\u00e1n Feliciano Rivera obtained a position with the US Fish and Wildlife Service through Conservation Opportunity resources.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using Conservation Opportunity's (CO) opportunity platform, <\/em>recent graduate of the University of Puerto Rico Mayag\u00fcez campus, Fabi\u00e1n Feliciano Rivera, was part of the team of the nonprofit organization of American Conservation Experience <\/em>as group leader. This work was carried out during the summer of 2023 at the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge<\/a>, under the direction of the governmental entity US<\/em> Fish and Wildlife Services<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was my first job. full time <\/em>in relation to the field I am studying,\u201d said Feliciano Rivera. <\/p>\n\n\n

Since his youth, he has been \u201cfascinated by animals\u201d. He can admit that he spent a lot of time watching documentaries about animals. Animal Planet<\/em> and the programs of Discovery<\/em>. Likewise, popular environmental icons, such as the late Steve Irwin, inspired them to take a more conservation and nature-related path. Like the occupation he managed to achieve with the opportunities shared by CO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biologist indicated that his initial experience with American Conservation Experience <\/em>y United States Fish and Wildlife Services <\/em>opened the way to his next job in his concentration. Working in conservation and working on Puerto Rico's natural resources with government agencies, universities and non-profit entities is on the young man's list of goals. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBasically, I want any job that helps me to be able to do research, to be able to be in the field and allow me to do my own research,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recent graduate shared about his work in the opportunity he got, stating that he was responsible for monitoring birds, making schedules and ensuring that tasks, such as mailing messages and guiding federal vehicles, were accomplished as quickly as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was the person in charge of the participants in the program from Youth Conservation Corps <\/em>with 16-18 year olds. It was also my duty to make sure they were doing their jobs, such as sidewalk maintenance in Las Salinas, and that they felt good while participating in the activities,\u201d he included.<\/p>\n\n\n

For Feliciano Rivera, CO presented itself as the necessary tool to find his next step towards his professional development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese (opportunities) are going to help me little by little to get the job of my dreams. You gain experience to get the next better job,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constantly, the biologist goes through CO's social networks socializing and sharing the opportunities with his peers and friends, so that they can also have similar experiences to the one he had. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt's a very good site. Sometimes you check it from time to time, because it's a very good site. online. <\/em>To have it in Instagram<\/a> is a good thing, a positive thing, since one is always in the application,\u201d he shared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
