Yunielis Clemente Ortiz
Recent graduate of the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras Campus (UPRRP) and founder of Granos PR, Yunielis Clemente Ortiz, shared her experience of being a member of the Latino Climate Council (LCC) of the Hispanic Access Foundation (HAF) in Washington DC.
“Using (Conservation Opportunity's) Facebook platform, I was able to find out about the opportunity to belong to LCC. I was there for a year,” stated Clemente Ortiz.
She is grateful to the Conservation Opportunity (CO) organization because it helped her gain more work experience and expand her professional resume. In addition, Clemente Ortiz explained her contributions to the HAF from her position as a member of the LCC.
“I was in charge of raising awareness among Latino communities in different parts of the United States about the various environmental issues we face, as we are one of the most vulnerable communities in terms of facing natural disasters. In addition, I was involved in promoting opportunities and education to unify us,” he added.

By belonging to HAF, Clemente Ortiz has had the opportunity to expand her professional connections. She met remarkable people within the environmental community and implements all that she has learned within these programs to continue contributing to different initiatives in the United States to promote Latino participation and possibly, in the future, be able to bring them to Puerto Rico.
“The next goal in my professional life is to continue doing different projects, such as Granos PR and others related to conservation, environmental issues and awareness using our resources to promote sustainability, not only in Puerto Rico, but also worldwide,” he concluded.
