Description:
- Focus: To highlight the work of Puerto Rican women scientists and provide a space for students to learn about different professions within the area of science. A variety of workshops, orientations, presentations by organizations that promote science in Puerto Rico and a presentation of different experiments that can be done at home will be offered.
- Contests: “Draw your favorite scientist” and “Personify your favorite scientist”. In the drawing contest they must include a description of why they are their favorite scientist. In the second contest they should dress up as their favorite scientist, take a photo or video and share it at cawteducation@gmail.com or liz.diaz2@upr.edu.
Deadline to submit the drawing: April 13 and the winners will be announced on Friday, April 16 in the Science and Art section of the Symposium. - They will also offer a panel entitled “My Mom is a Scientist” on April 15, 2021 at 7:00pm. In the panel different Puerto Rican women scientists will share how they combine their work as scientists and having children, the existing challenges and actions we must take to achieve equity in this area.Event sponsored by the CIRE2N, PRSPRINT and CAWT research programs.
