Conservation Opportunity announces its third Photo Competition to celebrate Coral Reef Week

[March 29, 2023 - Puerto Rico] The non-profit organization, Conservation Opportunity (CO), announced its third annual Photo Competition, an event in which anyone can submit photos to compete for the highest number of “likes” in order to obtain awards. Photographers have to submit and obtain “likes”The earlier you submit your images until May 10, 2023 at 11:59 p.m., the more time you have to compile the images. The earlier you submit photos, the more time you have to compile “likes”. The awards will take place during Coral Reef Week, which begins June 4 and concludes June 11, 2023.

In order to participate, you must share with CO, through this form, one to three photos reflecting the featured theme of “Exploring the Reef: Science, Community and Action”. 

Throughout the month of April and until May 10, the photos will be shared through the social media channels of Facebook e Instagram of the non-profit organization. 

Published photos must fall under these requirements:

  • Cannot be highly altered (basic edits such as contrast, color and clarity are allowed). 
  • Images must be submitted on or before May 10, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. AST (Atlantic Standard Time) 
  • You must provide a brief description of the image 
  • Photos must be yours/taken only by you.

Prizes will be awarded to the finalists of the first three positions. These consist of bags of items provided by the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources such as water bottles, stamps, shirts, among others. 

In addition, you will receive your winning photo framed with a plaque of the final position in the competition, mention of your name by various media and a certificate to take a boat tour of La Parguera Nature Reserve (located in Lajas, PR) with a Coral Reef Specialist.
