Introduction:

Aquatic pollution poses a serious threat to the health and vitality of our marine ecosystems, local communities and water-dependent economies. In Puerto Rico, where coastal geography and dependence on fishing, tourism and aquatic recreational activities are critical, the impact of marine debris is particularly devastating. Despite efforts to mitigate this problem, the continued accumulation of plastic debris, derelict fishing gear, and other debris endangers marine life, degrades natural habitats, and negatively affects the quality of life of our residents. One of the biggest challenges in the fight against aquatic pollution is the lack of community awareness and commitment to take preventative measures. Without a well-informed and active community, efforts to reduce this pollution and promote sustainable practices will fall short in the face of the rising tide of debris that pollutes our oceans.AquaFestClean Waters and Healthy Communities Festival has been created to address these challenges by providing a dynamic platform for education,

community participation and collaborative action. However, despite the urgency and relevance of this initiative, the resources available to successfully plan and execute the AquaFest are limited. Adequate funding is vital to cover the costs of coordination, materials and logistical support, ensuring that the event is not only informative, but transformative.

As a collaborating organization, Puerto Rico al Sur, Inc. will be receiving donations for the production and logistics of the festival. Your support will not only contribute to the realization of this event, but will be a cornerstone for its impact. Each donation strengthens the capacity to educate, mobilize and heal, and becomes part of a collaborative network of more than thirty organizations.
