Position: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Open Topic)
Entity: Great Hollow Nature Preserve & Ecological Research Center
Location: New Fairfield, Connecticut
Salary: $40,000-$45,000 per year DOE + free on-site housing and utilities + health insurance reimbursement + year-end bonus

Description:
“Great Hollow Nature Preserve is offering a two-year, open-topic Post-Doctoral Fellowship for early-career scientists to lead independent, conservation-driven ecological research. The Fellow will design and conduct research at the 825-acre preserve or nearby field sites, assist with Great Hollow's ongoing projects, mentor summer interns, and contribute to general operations including outreach, land management, and facilities support. Research may focus on any taxon or ecological discipline relevant to the northeastern U.S. ecosystem. Modest internal funding is provided, and the Fellow is encouraged to pursue external grants.
Requirements:
- PhD in ecology, biology, natural resources, or related fields (earned within the past 5 years; Spring 2026 candidates eligible)
- Field-based research experience, study design, and statistical proficiency (R, GIS)
- At least two first-authored peer-reviewed publications
- Experience with grant writing, mentoring, and conference presentations
- Familiarity with northeastern U.S. ecosystems
- Strong writing and communication skills
- U.S. citizenship or work authorization + valid U.S. driver's license
