the environment through my eyes

The hearing diverse community connects with the environment and nature like any other community. Their stories connect to daily life growing up in the Puerto Rican culture among the mountains, rivers, parks and the beach. However, its population is affected by the lack of access to outdoor educational programs that include sign language interpretation. The short film “the environment through my eyes”Conservation Opportunity shares stories of passion, hardship and community; inspired by outdoor activities in nature.

Behind the Scenes

Our dedicated team of Conservation Opportunity, Ranger Randy Creative LLC and collaborators worked hard to coordinate the “Hookeate con La Pesca” event to capture the joy of its participants, conducted interviews with deaf, partially deaf, profoundly deaf, hearing and nature lovers.

Through this work we hope to raise awareness of the great importance of access to this type of program for the hearing impaired community and their experiences with nature in general.
